Right. This is going to take a bit of an introduction, because long, round-about stories are totally my thing.

Right. It all started in college. I was on Gaia [link] at this new pet store called Steamworks [link] . It's an entirely new kind of pet store; most BC (breedable-changing) pet stores have the basic lineart (just the lines of the pet) and colorists (who color the lineart in unique ways to create your pet). The lineart is a closely guarded secret- a store is entirely based off of its lineart and colorists are almost always hired help. If somebody gets a hold of your lineart, they can start their OWN shop and, thus, STEAL your work.

Right. Sorry about that rant. I just HAD to throw that in there, because, like I said, I HATE art thieves with a passion. *hiss*

Steamworks, like I said, is a revolutionary new BC shop. They don’t have colorists, and everything is FREE. What they do is provide the background information (most BC stores have some sort of background or story that goes along with their pets, for roleplaying purposes) and the lineart. That’s right- they don’t do ANYTHING for you. YOU color your OWN pets for FREE! As many as you want!

I was thinking about trying to make my own Mench (it’s the most human-like of the 3 then-available species; there are now 6 different species available. For more information, visit the Steamworks post about the pets-> [link] t.39275055_6/#6 ), so I started fiddling about. In the resources section of the thread, in addition to the various tutorials, they have information about “steam punk” (or “steampunk” ) style, since one of the few requirements for Steamworks is that the pets are steam punk styled. While browsing through the pictures (there are SO MANY!), I started to get inspired. I mean, I've always liked that style; I just never knew what it was called before. And seeing all the homemade costumes, I decided that I want to make my own costume.

So now I'm into steam punk stuff. I'll be making my own stuff for a costume for Halloween (what? It'll take a while to get it all made up and stuff), including jewelry and acessories. T'will be great.

So expect some steam punk garb designs and/or sketches.
